19 Killed, One Injured as Trailer Crashes Into Bus, Car in Plateau, Officials say

Nineteen people were killed and one other injured in a fatal road accident involving a trailer, a Hiace bus and a Toyota Corolla at Hawan Kibo, along the Hawan Kibo-Jos road in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Official sources said the accident occurred at about 4 p.m. on Friday when a trailer conveying a container reportedly suffered brake failure and rammed into the two vehicles.

The impact of the collision reportedly killed 19 passengers at the scene, while one person sustained injuries.

Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), deployed to Hawan Kibo, responded to the incident after receiving information about the crash.

The troops, in collaboration with officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), evacuated the casualties to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for further medical attention and necessary procedures.

The circumstances surrounding the accident were yet to be fully established as relevant authorities continued to respond to the incident.
