Troops Arrest Suspected Drug Peddler, Recover Cannabis in Abia

Troops of 145 Battalion under Operation UDO KA have arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered suspected illicit substances and related items in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
Security sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, around the Express Tower and Umuahia Railway general areas.
Items recovered from the suspect included 120 wraps of compressed dried leaves suspected to be cannabis and 42 sachets of suspected cannabis.
The troops also recovered two lighters, a rubber pipe suspected to be used for inhaling crystal methamphetamine, a mobile phone and a suspected cannabis crusher.
Other items recovered were two pairs of black spectacles, a glass board suspected to have been used for cutting substances, a black hand purse, an identity card, two ATM cards, one wrap of suspected wooden substance, six passport photographs and ₦4,600 in cash.
The suspect and recovered items were being processed for further action in accordance with established procedures.
The arrest forms part of ongoing security efforts to curb drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the South-East.
Further details on the suspect’s identity and the outcome of investigations were not immediately available.
