Army troops kill 20 bandits, recover rustled cattle in Taraba

The Nigerian Army troops have repelled a major cattle rustling operation and neutralized at least 20 suspected bandits during a coordinated operation in Jeb Jeb and surrounding villages.
The joint troops Operation comprising of the Nigerian Army, police local vigilantes and hunters, followed a distress call received on Friday, 16 May 2025, at about 0740hrs, that bandits riding on 15 motorcycles had attacked Gina Rumbu and Garau villages via Old Muri, assaulting residents and rustling cattle.
“Upon receiving the report, the military camp in Jeb Jeb swiftly mobilized troops. The team advanced to Komodoro village and strategically blocked the suspected escape route to Plateau State,”the sources said.
Reinforcements from Andamin also joined the operation, and the security forces ambushed the bandits as they attempted to cross with the stolen cattle.
“In the ensuing gun battle, the joint forces neutralized nearly twenty (20) of the attackers. All rustled cattle were recovered and returned to the affected communities,”said the sources.
One vigilante member, Lawal Jabu, sustained a bullet wound on his thigh and was rushed to PHCC Andamin for treatment.
