Armed bandits attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) location in Zamfara State, killing a police officer and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Zagazola gathered that the attack occurred on July 13 at about 5:30 a.m. in Gwarin Ganuwa village, Tsafe Local Government Area, where a joint team of police operatives and CJTF personnel under Operation Restore Peace was stationed to protect the community.

The bandits, who were heavily armed and in large numbers, stormed the village in an attempt to overrun the area. The security operatives, however, engaged them in a fierce gun battle and successfully repelled the attack.

During the exchange of fire, a police officer identified as Insp. Abubakar Mohammed paid the supreme price. His service AK-47 rifle was also reportedly carted away by the assailants.

Three members of the CJTF also lost their lives in the confrontation.

The Police say reinforcements have been deployed to the area to recover the stolen firearm and track down the fleeing bandits.
