Police arrest six suspected armed robbers in Benue, recover pistol

The Benue State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a notorious armed robbery gang operating within the North Bank axis of Makurdi, the state capital.
Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were apprehended at about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday by a patrol team attached to ‘C’ Division, following a distress call from the SRS junction area of North Bank.
The Police sources identified the suspects as Aondogu Timbe, Tordue Ashiu, Robert Iorzua, Ushahumba Ornguga, Sunday Daniel, and Ornguga Daniel.
A locally made pistol was reportedly recovered from one of the suspects, Aondogu Timbe, along with an unregistered Honda Cube motorcycle believed to have been used in the commission of their crimes.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang has been linked to a series of armed robbery incidents in North Bank and its environs.
The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation and prosecution.
