Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised a suspected ISWAP fighter during a coordinated surveillance and air interdiction operation in the Marte axis of Borno State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that personnel at Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) Logomani and Gajibo detected the movement of suspected terrorists toward the Marte general area at about 6:46 p.m. on July 17.
The sources said the intelligence prompted the deployment of an aerial platform, which tracked the movement of the suspects and engaged one terrorist riding a motorcycle with a precision strike, killing him instantly.
Ground troops subsequently moved to exploit the target area and recovered four rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition believed to have belonged to the neutralised terrorist.
