Farmer-herder clash leaves one dead, two injured in niger

Atleast one person dead and two others injured   in a farmer-herder clash in Agaie Local Government Area of the state.

 

Security sources said that the  incident occurred on Monday at about 2:00 p.m. when one Hassan Auta, a herder from Fulani camp in Makwagi village, allegedly trespassed into the farm of Hadiza Usman of Koroka village with his cattle.

 

Sources said an altercation ensued after Usman asked Auta to remove his cattle, but he refused and instead attacked her with a machete, inflicting deep cuts on her left thigh.

 

Her son, Bashiru Mohammed, who heard her cries, rushed to her aid but was also attacked by Auta, sustaining a cut on his left hand.

 

In retaliation, Mohammed struck Auta on the head with a machete, leading to his death from severe bleeding before he could receive medical attention.

 

The sources said a team of operatives visited the scene, evacuated the corpse and rushed the injured victims to General Hospital, Agaie, for autopsy and treatment.

 

The sources  added that investigation into the incident was ongoing.
