Police repel attack on agatu communities in Benue

The Police in Benue on Monday repelled an attack on two communities in Agatu Local Government Area of the state.
Sources confirmed that the incident occurred at about 5:56 p.m., when unknown gunmen suspected to be armed herders invaded Egwuma and Ipele communities.
The sources said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Agatu swiftly mobilised tactical teams stationed in the area and engaged the attackers in a gun duel.
According to the sources, the heavy firepower of the police forced the attackers to flee through the swampy forest.
The sources said that combing of the surrounding bushes was ongoing to track down the suspects, while additional tactical teams and Police Mobile Force (PMF) units had been deployed for reinforcement.
