Four Killed in Lone Trailer Accident in Ibadan

Four persons have died in a lone fatal motor accident involving a trailer along the Ojo–Iwo Road Expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State.

 

Police sources said the incident occurred at about 0700 hours on June 22 at Iyana Bodija, near Enyo Filling Station.

 

According to sources, the accident involved a trailer with registration number XB 6895 KTG, driven by Aliyu Sagari, 35, from Bauchi State.

 

The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Bauchi to Lagos when the driver handed over to a second driver, identified simply as Abdullahi, at Akinyele in Ibadan.

 

The second driver was said to have attempted to park the vehicle at Iyana Bodija when he lost control of the steering, causing the trailer to veer off the road and fall into a deep pit.

 

Four occupants of the vehicle were confirmed dead in the crash.

 

Police authorities said the corpses were released to the families of the deceased for burial in line with Islamic rites upon request.

 

The command added that photographs were taken at the scene and a sketch map drawn as part of standard accident documentation.

 

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash have commenced.
