Fulani Bandit Attack Leaves One Dead, Another Injured in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State

Suspected armed Fulani bandits have reportedly attacked motorists along a road in Katako Village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, leaving one person dead and another injured, security sources have said.
Zagazola reliably informed that the incident occurred at about 131709A when security forceds responded to distress calls of an attack on motorists by suspected Fulani militias along the road in the area.
The troops reportedly intervened, forcing the attackers to flee the scene.
However, after the encounter, troops discovered a female victim identified as Mrs. Grace Iliya Gyang who had been shot dead, while her husband, Mr. Iliya Gyang, sustained gunshot injuries.
The injured victim was evacuated to a hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel, according to the report.
Security sources said two motorcycles and a pair of military boots were recovered at the scene, while troops have continued patrols in the area to prevent further attacks and track down the fleeing assailants.
The sources said that troops have intensified routine patrols across the Joint Operations Area to safeguard schools, churches and other critical national infrastructure, while assuring that morale and operational efficiency remain satisfactory.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspected attackers, as tension remains high in the affected community as tit for tat continued between the Fulani and Berom communities.
