GOC 3 Division convenes stakeholders’ meeting to address recurring conflict in Mangu

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Maj.-Gen. W.M. Dangana, has led a stakeholders’ engagement in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State as part of ongoing efforts to address recurring communal conflicts.
The engagement, held at about 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, took place at the Primary School, Kasuwa Ali, Mangu, and was organised by a special committee constituted by the GOC.
The meeting was attended by Maj.-Gen. Dangana and his staff officers, the Special Adviser on Security to the Plateau State Government, the Commander, Sub-Sector 81, leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and other stakeholders from Mangu.
The engagement formed part of the non-kinetic approach being adopted by the security leadership to address recurring conflicts involving Fulani communities and indigenous groups in the area.
Discussions focused on the need to prevent reprisal attacks, strengthen communication among communities and security agencies, and promote peaceful resolution of disputes before they escalate into violence.
The stakeholders were also expected to deepen collaboration and community-level engagement as part of broader efforts to improve security and restore lasting peace across Mangu and neighbouring communities.
The meeting underscores the continued emphasis by OPEP on combining kinetic operations with dialogue and other non-kinetic measures to address the underlying tensions contributing to recurring violence in parts of Plateau State.
