Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recovered 12 rustled cattle following an ambush operation against suspected terrorists in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 11:50 p.m. on April 7 by troops of 4 Demonstration Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dumbi.
The troops reportedly responded to intelligence on cattle rustling at Dutsen Mai village and subsequently laid an ambush at a suspected crossing point around Kwanar Zangon Aya village.
During the operation, the troops made contact with the suspected rustlers, leading to a firefight.
The assailants were forced to flee into nearby bushes under sustained pressure, abandoning the rustled livestock.
The troops successfully recovered 12 cattle, which are currently in their custody pending further necessary action.
Security sources said troops have continued to dominate the general area to prevent further criminal activities and track down the fleeing suspects.
