Kano Police Impound 117 Vehicles, Motorcycles Over Traffic Violations

The Kano State Police Command has impounded 117 vehicles and motorcycles for various traffic offences during an ongoing enforcement exercise aimed at improving road safety and compliance with traffic regulations.

The exercise, conducted between August 15 and 21, 2026, took place between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. as part of efforts to enforce road traffic regulations and safety protocols across the state.

According to a security report obtained by Zagazola Makama, a total of 51 vehicles and 66 motorcycles were impounded during the operation for different traffic-related offences.

The report stated that the affected drivers and riders were subsequently charged to court for prosecution in accordance with the law.

The Police Command said the enforcement exercise is still ongoing, with personnel maintaining efforts to ensure greater compliance with traffic regulations and road safety measures.

It added that the situation across the area remains generally calm, while further developments would be communicated as they arise.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb traffic violations, promote responsible road use and reduce incidents associated with non-compliance with established road safety protocols.
