Military Air Interdiction Mission Targets Terrorists in Borno, Neutralises Scores

Air assets under Operation HADIN KAI in the North-East have conducted a successful interdiction mission around Gashigar general area in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.
Zagazola gathered that the operation, carried out at about 18:05 hours on 15 June 2026, followed surveillance which identified the movement and regrouping of suspected terrorists within settlements approximately 3km north-east and 3.3km north of Gashigar.
According to military sources, the terrorists were initially tracked in small groups before converging in a structure within one of the settlements.
A precision strike was subsequently executed on the identified location, resulting in the destruction of the structure used by the suspects.
Further surveillance indicated continued movement of fighters from nearby buildings towards the impact area, prompting a second precision strike to neutralise the regrouping threat.
Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed the destruction of the target structure and the neutralisation of several terrorists, while others fled the area with varying degrees of disarray.
Military authorities say follow-up operations are ongoing to exploit the success of the mission and deny terrorist elements freedom of action in the general area.
