One cow dies, two slaughtered after suspected poisoning in a targeted attack in Riyom

One cow has died while two others were slaughtered after five cattle were suspected to have grazed on a poisonous substance arranged by locals at Torok Community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident was reported at about 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2026, prompting troops of Sector 6, Operation ENDURING PEACE, to respond to the area.

Security sources said troops discovered that five cattle were suspected to have been affected after grazing on a poisonous substance. One of the cattle reportedly died at the spot, while two others were slaughtered.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the appropriate action.
