A 32-year-old man has sustained gunshot injuries following a renewed clash between Biakpan and Etono II communities in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Monday at about 8:55 a.m. at a disputed farmland located between the two neighbouring communities.
The victim, identified as Samuel Ekpezu of Biakpan community, was reportedly injured during a shooting incident and is said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed traditional medical home.
A police source at the Biakpan Division confirmed the development, noting that the situation was tense but under surveillance.
Additional security personnel have been deployed to the area to restore order and prevent further escalation,” the source said.
The two communities have had a history of violent land disputes in recent years.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the latest violence and ensure lasting peace in the area.
