Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued a 50-year-old kidnapped victim following an attack on farmers in Dutsen Maru community, Maru District of Zamfara State.
Security sources said the troops responded to a distress call on Oct. 26, reporting an attack on farmers in the community.
The troops swiftly mobilised to the scene and intercepted the assailants as they attempted to withdraw from the area.
During the operation, the troops rescued Mallam Ibrahim Suleiman, 50, who had been abducted by the attackers.
The troops also recovered three motorcycles and a donkey belonging to the affected farmers.
The sources said troops remained in the general area and were continuing operations to locate other persons still unaccounted for and ensure their safe recovery.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to combat kidnapping, protect farming communities and deny armed criminal groups freedom of action across the North-West.
