Plateau Govt Condemns Attack on Bokkos Community, Orders Security Crackdown

The Plateau State Government has condemned the attack on Kawel community in Mushere Chiefdom of Bokkos Local Government Area, which resulted in the death of several residents and injuries to others.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government described the attack as heinous and senseless.
The government expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
According to the statement, the incident underscores the need for sustained efforts to combat criminal elements seeking to disrupt peace and stability in communities across the state.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has directed security agencies to intensify operations in the affected area, identify those responsible for the attack and ensure that they are apprehended and prosecuted.
The governor also ordered relevant emergency management and humanitarian agencies to provide immediate assistance and support to victims and affected families, particularly those receiving treatment in hospitals.
The statement reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and ensuring that criminal elements do not derail ongoing efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and development in the state.
The government urged residents of Kawel, Mushere Chiefdom and other parts of the state to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding while cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information to aid investigations and ongoing security operations.
It also cautioned against any form of reprisal, stressing that justice would be pursued through lawful and constitutional means.
The state government assured residents of its solidarity during the difficult period and reiterated its determination to ensure peace, security and the rule of law across all communities in Plateau State.
