Troops of 1 Brigade Counter-Terrorism Force 7 have responded to reports of a terrorist attack along the Tsafe–Yankuzo route in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Military sources said the troops were mobilised at about 1115 hours on June 21 following intelligence that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle travelling from Tsafe Market to Yankuzo.
According to the sources, the troops swiftly moved to the area to confront the attackers and secure the route.
However, no contact was made with the terrorists, who had reportedly fled before the arrival of the security forces.
During a search of the area, the troops discovered a vehicle that had been set ablaze by the attackers.
Security forces subsequently secured the scene and intensified patrols in the area to forestall further attacks and reassure residents.
Military authorities said efforts were ongoing to track down the perpetrators and prevent terrorist activities along major transportation routes in the state.
