Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Locally Made Pistol in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally made pistol following a coordinated operation involving police personnel, community members and vigilante groups.
Police sources disclosed that the suspects, identified as Nurudeen Zakari and Chifije Sunday, both of Okokolo area in Bagaji Local Government Area of Benue State, were arrested at about 6:40 p.m. on June 7 along the Agyema–Agbashi Road.
According to the sources, the arrest followed a collaborative effort between the police, local residents and vigilante groups aimed at combating criminal activities within the area.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on the same day, a 70-year-old man, Burga Muhammad, was allegedly robbed of his motorcycle along the same route.
Acting on intelligence gathered after the incident, a police patrol team and vigilante personnel from Ekye Division launched a search operation which led to the arrest of the suspects.
During the operation, one locally made pistol was recovered from the suspects.
The suspects are currently in police custody undergoing further interrogation and investigation.
Police authorities said efforts are being intensified to recover the stolen motorcycle and identify other possible members of the criminal network.
The command reiterated its commitment to working closely with communities and vigilante groups to combat armed robbery and other crimes across Nasarawa State.
