Troops arrest Berom Militia for attempting to sell stolen cattle at Bokkos cattle market, weeks after attack on herders

Troops of Sector 8, Operation WHIRL PUNCH, in collaboration with troops of Sector 5, have arrested a 29-year-old Berom Militia while allegedly attempting to sell a stolen cattle at a cattle market in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, identified as Mabwe Zakaria, was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2026, after the cattle was identified by its owner.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the cattle was allegedly part of the dozens of livestock rustled on Aug. 18, 2026, after attack on fulani herders in Quan’Pan Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation to establish his involvement in the alleged cattle rustling and identify possible accomplices.
Security agencies are sustaining operations against cattle rustling and other criminal activities across the affected communities.
