Police Arrest Two Suspects Over Alleged Armed Robbery in Akwa Ibom, Recover Stolen Vehicle

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with an alleged armed robbery incident involving a stolen vehicle in Uyo Local Government Area of the state.
Police sources from the “C” Division disclosed that the incident was reported at about 10:40 p.m. on June 8 by one Nsikanabasi Akpan of Ekprinsukara community.
According to the report, the complainant stated that he was invited by his female friend, identified as Magret Benson Ukang of No. 9 Atan Offot, who requested that he drive her to Afagha Ofot area to check on a friend.
Upon arrival at the location, the complainant alleged that three armed men emerged and forcefully dispossessed him of his car keys and robbed him of his ash-coloured Honda Accord 2008 model with registration number BWR 104 AQ.
Following the report, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene to track down the suspects and recover the stolen vehicle.
At about 12:40 a.m. on June 9, the stolen vehicle was reportedly sighted in a compound within Afagha Ofot, where two suspects, including the complainant’s female friend and one Uyime John James, were found in possession of the vehicle key.
Both suspects were promptly arrested, and the vehicle was recovered and taken to the police station for safekeeping.
Police authorities said discreet investigation has commenced to identify and arrest other members of the suspected robbery gang, as well as recover any operational weapons used in the crime.
The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all persons involved in criminal activities are brought to justice.
