Operatives of the Abia State Police Command have arrested two suspects and recovered a locally made firearm and a live cartridge following a violent altercation in Ikwuano Local Government Area.

Police sources said the incident was reported at the Ikwuano Police Station at about 12:35 p.m. on Friday by Chiemela Opara of Oloko Proper.

According to the report, Opara alleged that following an earlier altercation, one Chibueze Stephen returned to his residence at about 9:00 a.m. armed with a locally made short gun and accompanied by three others, where they allegedly threatened to kill him.

Acting on the report, police operatives moved to the scene and arrested Chibueze Stephen and one of his alleged accomplices, Chukwuebuka Chinkee, while two other suspects fled.

Police said Chibueze Stephen had sustained severe machete injuries allegedly inflicted by village youths before officers arrived at the scene. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.

A locally made short gun and one live cartridge were recovered during the operation.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
