Suspected Benin Republic vigilantes kill two Fulani men in Niger border community

Police have launched a manhunt for suspected vigilantes from the Republic of Benin following the killing of two Fulani men in Rafin-Kala Village, via Gallah, in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on July 23, when the suspected vigilantes allegedly crossed into the border community and attacked the victims with machetes.
The victims were identified as Mohammed Sani, 26, and Adamu Sani, 30, who were reportedly hacked to death during the attack.
Following a distress report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) mobilised detectives and tactical teams to the scene.
The bodies of the deceased were evacuated to the General Hospital, Agwara, where they were deposited for autopsy.
Police sources said investigations have commenced, while efforts are ongoing to identify, track and arrest the perpetrators behind the cross-border attack.
The incident is under investigation.
