Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have abducted four men in a pre-dawn attack on two communities in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The attack, which occurred at about 1:00 a.m. on Friday, targeted Goduram and Lojiya villages, both located in an area previously affected by insurgent activity.
Zagazola Makama learnt that the victims have been identified as Ari Tela and Goni Gadan from Goduram, and Abakar Kakari and Aminami Lojiya from Lojiya.
Sources revealed that the villages had earlier been the scene of a counter-insurgency operation in which vigilante members attached to Operation Hadin Kai reportedly killed a Boko Haram member. The abduction is suspected to be a retaliatory act.
Security operatives and community vigilantes have since intensified search-and-rescue operations to locate and safely recover the abducted individuals.
