Troops arrest nine suspected drug peddlers in Plateau

Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), in conjunction with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), have arrested nine suspected drug peddlers during a raid operation at Zawan Riverside in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation was conducted at about 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, 2026, following intelligence on the activities of suspected criminals, drug peddlers and armed robbers using the area as a hideout.
During the operation, the troops arrested nine suspected drug peddlers, while other suspected criminals reportedly fled the area.
The troops also dismantled and burnt down makeshift canopies used by the criminals and recovered a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs.
The suspects and recovered exhibits were profiled for further investigation and necessary action.
