Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with intelligence operatives and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected collaborator of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno.

Security sources disclosed that the suspect, identified as Umara Abubakar, 22, was apprehended at about 11:30 a.m. on June 14 in Kekeno town following actionable intelligence.

According to the sources, the arrest was made based on information obtained during the interrogation of another suspect who had earlier been taken into custody.

The suspect is currently at the military custody for further investigation.

The arrest is part of ongoing counter-insurgency and intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks operating within communities across the North-East.

Military authorities said the general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, while troops continue to maintain high morale and operational effectiveness in ongoing operations against terrorist groups.
