Troops arrest suspected terrorist spy, recover attack footage in Borno

Troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gajiram have arrested a suspected terrorist spy during a patrol along the Maiduguri–Monguno Road in Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect was apprehended at about 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2026, when troops deployed at FOB Gajiram encountered him during a patrol along the Main Supply Route (MSR).
During a search, troops recovered a mobile phone and clothes packed inside a sack bag from the suspect.
Security sources said further examination of the mobile phone allegedly revealed video footage depicting terrorist attacks on troops.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody by Sector 3 Military Intelligence Battalion (MIB) for further investigation and appropriate action.
The arrest highlights ongoing intelligence-led efforts by security forces to identify individuals suspected of providing information or other forms of support to terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
Troops continue to conduct patrols and intelligence operations along major routes and vulnerable communities in Borno to disrupt terrorist networks and prevent attacks on military and civilian targets.
