Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with members of the Forest Guard, have arrested a suspected logistics supplier to Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.
Security sources said the suspect, identified as Girema Aliko, 40, was arrested at about 5:30 p.m. on June 1 at the Benisheikh Market in Benisheikh.
According to the sources, the suspect had been on the watchlist of troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade operating in the area.
Items recovered from him included a Toyota vehicle and 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
During preliminary interrogation, Aliko reportedly confessed to supplying fuel and other logistics items to terrorists operating within the region.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the 29 Task Force Brigade for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Military authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist supply chains and deny insurgents access to logistics support across the North-East theatre.
