Troops Arrest Three Suspected ISWAP Logistics Suppliers, Rescue Two Teenage Girls in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested three suspected logistics suppliers to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and rescued two teenage girls who escaped from a terrorist enclave in Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were arrested at about 9:30 a.m. on July 22 around New Abbaram Resettlement Village in Bama Local Government Area during an intelligence-led operation.
The sources said the suspects were intercepted while allegedly transporting supplies to ISWAP fighters hiding in the bush.
Items recovered from them included 3.5 litres of groundnut oil, kola nuts, salt and 76 sachets of coconut flavouring, all believed to be intended for the terrorists.
The suspects and the recovered items have been taken into military custody for further investigation to identify other members of the logistics network and disrupt the supply chain sustaining terrorist activities in the area.
In a separate development, troops also rescued two teenage girls who escaped from the Grazah terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains.
Military sources said the girls are currently in safe custody, where they will undergo medical evaluation, debriefing and other necessary support before being reunited with their families.
The sources added that the operations form part of sustained efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to dismantle terrorist support networks, deny insurgents access to logistics and rescue civilians held captive in terrorist enclaves across the North-East.
