Troops Conduct Clearance Operations Across Mainok Axis, Civilians Resume Normal Activities

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI under Operation Desert Sanity V have conducted a successful clearance operation across several settlements in the Mainok axis of Borno State as part of sustained efforts to deny terrorists freedom of movement and reassure local communities.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation involved a patrol comprising personnel from the 101 Battalion, supported by 10 members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who departed Mainok on July 22 to carry out clearance and ambush operations in suspected terrorist corridors.
The troops systematically exploited multiple settlements, including Gowo and Marguna, as well as several surrounding locations previously identified as areas of security interest.
According to the sources, no contact was made with terrorists during the operation. However, troops observed residents going about their normal daily activities, an indication of the improving security situation in the area.
Following the clearance mission, the patrol occupied a tactical ambush position along a suspected terrorist route to monitor movement and deter any attempt by insurgents to infiltrate the area.
Military sources described the patrol as hitch-free, adding that troops maintained a high level of vigilance throughout the operation.
The clearance mission forms part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity V, which is aimed at sustaining pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP elements, preventing their return to previously cleared locations, and creating a secure environment for civilian populations to carry out their livelihoods.
Sources added that the general security situation in the area remained calm but fluid, while the morale and fighting efficiency of the troops were reported to be satisfactory.
