Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have conducted a fighting patrol and exploitation operation across several communities in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State following intelligence reports of a clash between rival Boko Haram factions and ISWAP elements.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was launched on June 1 to exploit intelligence on suspected fighting between the terrorist groups and to deny them freedom of movement across identified flashpoints.
According to the sources, troops moved through several locations, including Alagarno, Baale, Maisaimari, Yadimari and Shiwari communities, with mapped coordinates forming part of the operational sweep.
The sources said all the communities visited were found completely deserted, with no visible civilian presence during the patrol.
No direct contact was made with terrorist elements during the exploitation operation.
However, troops recovered two rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bombs and about 150 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition during a sweep of Baale village.
Military authorities noted that the operation was informed by credible intelligence indicating a clash between Boko Haram and ISWAP factions in the area, which prompted the rapid deployment and area domination patrols.
They added that the patrol covered extensive ground before troops safely returned to base later the same day.
The authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing clearance efforts aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics, denying freedom of action, and consolidating security gains in the North-East theatre.
They reaffirmed the commitment of troops to sustained intelligence-driven operations and aggressive patrols aimed at restoring lasting peace to affected communities.
