Troops foil ISWAP infiltration attempt, kill four terrorists in Borno

Troops of the 81 Division Task Force Battalion deployed under Operation Hadin Kai have foiled an attempted infiltration by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.
According to sources, the incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday when troops of 81 Division TF Battalion deployed at Check Point 4, Alpha Company, sighted suspected ISWAP fighters crawling towards their defensive position from the Gulumba Gana axis.
The troops immediately opened fire, forcing the terrorists to withdraw from the area.
The troops subsequently conducted an exploitation operation at about 6:00 a.m. and recovered four AK-47 rifles and the bodies of four terrorists killed during the encounter.
The report said traces of blood were also observed along the route used by the fleeing terrorists, suggesting that additional terrorists may have sustained injuries while withdrawing from the area.
There were no casualties on the side of the troops.
The soldiers returned to their base at about 6:53 a.m. after completing the operation.
The military said the general security situation remained calm but highly unpredictable, while the troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remained satisfactory.
