Three locals have been killed in an isolated attack by Fulani Bandits along the Gyambwas-Kikyau road in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Zagazola Makama reports that the incident occurred at about 8:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, when troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 81, Gyambwas, responded to a report of an attack on locals in the area.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops discovered the bodies of three victims identified as Gambo Fumyil, Zugumna Bamaiyi and Samson Dapo.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the victims were from Kikyau Community and had reportedly manoeuvred past troops enforcing the state-imposed curfew in Gyambwas before proceeding towards Kikyau.
The victims were subsequently ambushed by suspected fulani bandits members along the route. The assailants fled the scene before the arrival of the troops.
Security forces have since intensified operations in the area and commenced a manhunt for the attackers.
Troops are currently dominating the general area as part of efforts to track the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
The incident comes amid heightened security measures in parts of Mangu, where authorities have imposed curfew restrictions following recent security concerns.
