Troops of 177 Guards Battalion at Toto Patrol Base have foiled an attempted kidnapping incident targeting the family of a lawmaker in Yelwa village, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on April 4, 2026, when the troops responded to reports of an attempted abduction involving Hon. Tanko Tukura and members of his family.
The suspected kidnappers were said to have stormed the residence but fled the scene following the swift intervention of local vigilantes before the arrival of the troops.
Subsequently, the troops, in collaboration with the vigilante group, conducted a follow-up patrol along the withdrawal route of the attackers but made no contact.
Authorities said efforts were ongoing to track the fleeing suspects and strengthen security in the area to prevent further incidents.
