Kwara: troops repel suspected terrorist attack on patrol base in Patigi

Troops deployed at Patrol Base Gada under Operation Savannah Shield have repelled an attack by suspected terrorists in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 8:20 p.m. on April 4, 2026, when the patrol base came under attack by armed men.
The troops were said to have swiftly responded and forced the attackers to retreat after a brief exchange of fire.
Following the incident, the troops recovered four AK-47 magazines, 15 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a power bank, three pairs of shoes and a waist belt abandoned by the fleeing attackers.
Authorities said the situation had been brought under control, with security presence maintained in the area to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.
Operations under Operation Savannah Shield are ongoing in the axis to track fleeing suspects and strengthen security in vulnerable communities.
