Troops of the 212 Battalion have successfully foiled an attempted attack by suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists on their Forward Operating Base in Gajigana, Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on May 8, 2026, when the terrorists attempted to launch an assault on the troops’ location.

The sources said troops positioned on ambush duties engaged the attackers upon contact, forcing them to retreat in disarray.

Following the encounter, troops conducted a follow-up exploitation of the general area to track fleeing elements, but no further contact was made with the attackers.

Military authorities confirmed that normalcy has since been restored in the area, while troops remain on heightened alert to prevent any renewed attempt by terrorist elements.

They added that aggressive patrols and surveillance operations continue across surrounding communities as part of ongoing efforts to deny ISWAP/JAS freedom of action in the North-East.
