Katsina, Aug. 10, 2026: Troops of 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have foiled a planned attack by suspected terrorists in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation followed a distress call at about 11:20 a.m. on Aug. 9, reporting the convergence of suspected terrorists around Kaddanya village in the area.

According to a security report, troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Radda swiftly responded to the distress call and mobilised to the location.

The troops, working in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) from Kankia and Charanchi and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), successfully foiled the terrorists’ planned attack.

Following the operation, the troops exploited and dominated the general area through aggressive patrols to deny the suspected terrorists freedom of action.
