Troops foil terrorist IED attack along Mairari–Gajiram road in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have foiled an attempted terrorist attack along the Mairari–Gajiram main supply route in Borno State.
Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 5, when the troops, while conducting a patrol along the route, encountered two command-detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted at different locations.
The devices were detonated by suspected terrorists as the troops approached the locations.
No casualties were recorded among the troops.
Following the explosions, the troops engaged the terrorists from their suspected positions with disciplined fire, while additional reinforcement from the Brigade Garrison, led by the Garrison Commander, was deployed to the area.
The combined response forced the terrorists to retreat in confusion.
The troops subsequently secured the route and continued operations to prevent further attacks and deny terrorist elements freedom of action along the strategic corridor.
