Troops foil terrorist movement, recover motorcycle, ammunition in Borno ambush

Troops of 153 Task Force Battalion have foiled the movement of suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during a night and dawn ambush operation in Kirawa general area of Borno State.
A military source told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted following credible human intelligence on terrorist movement within the battalion’s area of responsibility.
The source said the ambush team was deployed at a known terrorist crossing point along Shave general area where troops remained in position overnight.
He said at about 7:10 a.m. on March 30, the troops sighted a group of terrorists riding on seven motorcycles approaching the location and immediately engaged them with disciplined fire.
According to him, the terrorists abandoned one motorcycle and other items, including a magazine, 19 rounds of 5.56mm NATO ammunition, and fled in disarray, with possible gunshot wounds.
The source added that troops conducted a follow-up exploitation towards the suspected withdrawal route of the fleeing terrorists but made no further contact.
He said no casualties were recorded on the side of the troops.
The recovered items included one magazine, one motorcycle, 19 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and other sundry materials.
