Troops, Immigration Personnel Arrest Suspected ISWAP Informant in Niger State

Troops of the 221 Battalion, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), have arrested a suspected informant linked to the Boko Haram  in Niger State.

 

Security sources told Zagazola  that the suspect was apprehended during a targeted operation conducted at about 1:00 p.m. on May 30 in Koro Community, Kainji area of Borgu Local Government Area.

 

According to the sources, the operation was carried out under Operation Savannah Shield following intelligence reports on the activities and movement of the suspect.

 

The sources alleged that the suspect served as an informant for Boko Haram elements and was involved in providing support during a previous terrorist attack in Kwankoso village.

 

Investigations revealed that after the incident, the suspect reportedly fled to Shafashi before relocating to Kaoje in Kebbi State. He was later tracked to Kainji in Niger State, where security operatives arrested him.

 

“The suspect was apprehended during a coordinated intelligence-led operation and is currently in military custody for further investigation,” a security source said.

 

The source added that ongoing investigations were aimed at establishing the full extent of the suspect’s alleged involvement in terrorist activities and identifying possible accomplices.
