Troops of Operation Wild Stroke (OPWS), Sector 3C, have intensified confidence-building patrols in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State to deter criminal elements and reassure residents of their safety.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that at about 3:30 p.m. on May 25, troops responded to a distress call about suspected bandits advancing toward Jen village in Karim Lamido.

The troops swiftly mobilised and moved to the area, forcing the suspected bandits to flee. The soldiers pursued them across a nearby river and cleared their suspected route at coordinates.

During the operation, a civilian hunter was killed. Troops were later stationed in Jen village, while another patrol team returned to base in Munga Lelau around 8:45 p.m.

The military also conducted a series of coordinated patrols to maintain security and deny bandits freedom of action.

At about 10:00 a.m., troops carried out a confidence-building patrol in Kambari village, sweeping the outskirts of the community. The operation was completed without incident by 3:40 p.m.

Similarly, at 3:40 p.m., an aggressive foot patrol was carried out in Monki, targeting enemy movements.  A night patrol was also conducted in Kambari at 8:10 p.m.

In another operation, troops conducted a stop-and-search at Maraba Apawa checkpoint at 2:40 p.m. to intercept criminals and prevent the movement of arms and ammunition. The checkpoint operation was described as hitch-free.

In Jeb-Jeb village, a blocking force was deployed around 2:00 p.m. to make contact with suspected criminals but  no contact was made.

Zagazola Makama report that the general security situation in the area remains calm but unpredictable, as troops intensify their patrols
