Troops launch offensive operation after vigilante killing, arrest deaf man with Baofeng communication radio

Troops of Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41 Gashish, have launched an offensive operation in the general area of Panshe community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, following the killing of a local vigilante member while on sentry duty by suspected Fulani bandits.
The operation was conducted at about 5:00 a.m. on September 19, 2026, after the vigilante member, identified as Christopher Titus, was killed in an isolated attack in the community.
During the operation, troops encountered suspected Fulani militias, who reportedly fled towards rocky terrain upon sighting the advancing soldiers.
The troops subsequently arrested a deaf man in the area and recovered two motorcycles and a Baofeng communication radio.
The arrested man and recovered items have been taken into custody for further investigation and appropriate action.
Troops have continued to dominate the general area through offensive operations and patrols aimed at tracking the fleeing suspects and preventing further attacks in the community.
