Troops, NDLEA arrest 26 suspects in Bayelsa raid
Troops of 16 Brigade, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have arrested 26 suspects during a raid operation in Yenagoa metropolis, Bayelsa State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 7:00 a.m. on April 1 as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and curb illicit drug activities in the state.
The sources disclosed that among those arrested was a soldier of the 343 Artillery Regiment who had reportedly been absent without official leave since 2019.
They added that troops recovered two locally made pistols, as well as a substantial quantity of hard drugs and other illicit substances during the operation.
According to the sources, all suspects and recovered items have been handed over to NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.
