Troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade, in conjunction with Hybrid Forces, have neutralised six suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during an ambush along the Targejeri axis of Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 12:37 a.m. on Oct. 25, following intelligence reports on the movement of terrorists within the area.
The sources said the troops, acting on the intelligence, laid an ambush along the terrorists’ suspected route at the Targejeri axis, engaging the insurgents and neutralising six of them.
Items recovered from the scene included one AK-47 rifle bearing registration number 38101, three magazines and 169 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Other items recovered were one Infinix Android phone, one Redmi Android phone, three button phones and some charms.
The recovered items are expected to support further investigations into the activities and movements of the terrorists operating within the area.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt terrorist movements and sustain operational pressure on ISWAP elements in the North-East.
