Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised three suspected kidnappers and recovered four AK-47 rifles and a cache of ammunition during an offensive operation in forest enclaves in Kogi State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 4, 2026, by troops of Sector 3 deployed at Anyigba, targeting suspected kidnappers' hideouts in Edimogbo Forest and the general area of Obele Forest in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area.
The troops reportedly engaged the suspected kidnappers during the offensive, neutralising three of them, while other members of the criminal gang fled into the surrounding forest.
A search of the area led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, 12 AK-47 magazines, 336 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, three bandoliers and other miscellaneous items.
The recovered weapons and ammunition are currently in military custody for further action.
The operation represents a significant blow to kidnapping networks operating within the forest corridors of Kogi State, as troops intensify efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts, recover illegal weapons and deny armed groups safe havens.
Security forces are expected to sustain offensive operations and pursue the fleeing suspects to prevent them from regrouping and carrying out further attacks.
