Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered two motorcycles during a fighting patrol in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 2:00 p.m. on July 10 by troops of the 1 Brigade as part of ongoing offensive operations against criminal elements in the state.

According to the sources, the troops carried out a fighting patrol to Tungar Magaji and Gidan Dawa villages, where they encountered suspected terrorists.

The troops engaged the suspects in a gun battle, neutralising two of them during the encounter.

The sources added that two motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists were recovered from the scene.

The military said the operation forms part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts and deny criminal groups freedom of movement across Zamfara State.
