Troops neutralize two bandits in Niger gun battle

Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralized two armed bandits following a gun duel in Kawo village, Erena district of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
Zagazola Makama report that the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 3:00 p.m., when a large number of armed insurgents launched an attack on the village, prompting a swift response from Nigerian Military and other security personnel.
The troops cordoned off the bandits’ routes, and engaged them in a fierce gun battle, during which two of the attackers were gunned down.
Two machetes were recovered from the scene of the encounter.
The operation is ongoing as efforts are being intensified to track down fleeing members of the bandit group.
