Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered 117 rustled livestock after engaging fleeing terrorists in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 5:00 p.m. on June 30 by troops of the 17 Brigade deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Radda following a distress call on terrorists moving with stolen livestock along Kaddanya village.

The sources said the troops, in conjunction with members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), swiftly mobilised to the area in pursuit of the terrorists.

Before reaching Kaddanya, the security team made contact with the fleeing terrorists at Sabaru Reraya village in the same local government area.

The troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the stolen livestock and flee into the surrounding bush.

The recovered livestock comprised 43 cattle and 74 rams.

The animals were evacuated and kept in the custody of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps at Radda Model Primary School before they were identified and handed over to their rightful owners.

The successful operation underscores the sustained efforts of security forces to combat cattle rustling and deny terrorists access to economic resources used to sustain their activities.
