Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered arms, ammunition and a motorcycle after repelling terrorists during a fighting patrol in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, carried out on Monday, followed sustained offensive patrols by troops of Sector 2 along the Danmusa–Yantumaki axis, where they encountered armed terrorists.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to abandon their position and flee into the surrounding bush.
A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two magazines loaded with 25 rounds of ammunition, and one motorcycle believed to have been used by the fleeing terrorists.
Military authorities said the recovery further degraded the operational capability of the criminal elements operating within the axis.
